Dont ask me how but im sure you can pop the bonnet without being inside the car.

Even if you cant im sure forcing the bonnet open and then buying a new bonnet catch is cheaper than having a new window fitted and alot less messy.

EDIT just found out the AA are good at breaking into cars if all else fails.....

And your blaming the car? it didn't ask you to de lock and stick on a different boot lock!!!! lol

if you had a 8 or 16v you could jack it up and get to the bonnet catch from underneath, not sure its all that easy with a VR in there. You might be able to get some leads up there on to the battery connected to a spare battery if you have one around then use your key

I had the same problem last week. Luckily my car has good earth points...

What you need is one of these...

Get underneath, clip the black (earth) to the bottom of the gearbox or part of the engine (can't remember where I managed to clip mine on, just make sure it's not the sump)

Clips the red (positive) to the positive point going into the starter motor.

That should give you enough juice to use your fob to unlock the car

Even if you don't have a battery booster pack or can't borrow one, it's worth going out and buying one for £20, it'll be cheaper and less hassle than breaking a window, plus you'll have it for the next time you do it lol

Ive got a jumper like the one in pic for about 40 from halfords, it started a flat battery 4-5 times on my old Escort GTi when it had electrical issues, still got plenty of charge left.

Also got a handy light on it incase your stuck in the dark.

Hopefully wont need it for the Golf but its there which is nice to know

Let us know how you get on
