Ignition coil
« on: 02 May 2008, 15:52 »
Does anyone know if a dodgy ignition coil would cause erratic revs and stalling?

Tis possible but would first look at cleaning throttle body, relays 30 and 167 aswell as replacing vac lines.

Oh and crankshaft position senser.

or the........ (list could go on for ages)... try the clean throttle body, checking and replacing dodgy vacum/breather pipes  and relays first... and give vag-com a go before swapping sensors

Thanks for the ideas. The only thing that hasnt been done is looking at the breather pipes.

if it was a vacuum line or breather pipe, will it show up on vagcom?

VAGCOM can only tell you if a sensor is faulty, but the sensor that is faulty could lead you to believe it was the pipes ;)

I have had a look at all the pipes and they seem ok

Was just reading through the haynes manual and misfires seem to point to the coil or the distributar and ht leads
