Screen wash warning.
« on: 02 May 2008, 11:40 »
My washer bottle ran empty yesterday without a warning light or sound. So when I was in at VW picking up my alloy locking nut (in which wasn't supplied in the car when I bought it from new, but thats another story) I asked them about it. They put it up on the ramps and then said it doesn't come standard on every model and mine didn't have a warning light fitted. Cheeky sods never even filled the bottle for me which was empty.

Is this true or are they fobbing me off. Its and Edition 30 btw

I think it only comes with the 'Winter Pack' option (which includes heated washer jets also)

I have it and actually wish there was some way to switch it off (after it's warned you). It keeps on flashing up, not good when you're on a long motorway journey, it's quite distracting

It is the 2nd most annoying feature of my car, the low fuel warning being the 1st! lol

I think you get it when you have the 'Highline' comp option.

as others have said, too many warning lights are a distraction as much as anything else! The low-fuel light drives me bonkers, flashing away on the highline, I have to fill up ASAP when that comes on if only just to get rid of the flashing amber

Spot on, I have the winter pack and it does warn you. Its a pain in the a$$ to be honest, and you can easily tell when you run out, water doesnt come out of the squirters.....LMAO

You can keep a 1ltr bottle in an old cleaned out clear plastic can in the boot with 25% screenwash 75% water. I keep one in one of those oil pouches, velcro'd in the boot next to the oil.
