Intercooler alternatives
« on: 02 May 2008, 11:39 »
Well, I've been looking for an intercooler for the old girl and found out that the APR one I was hoping to get doesn't fit the DSG ED30 (see note on Awesome site) This now leaves me in a bit of a quandry as to what option to go for as the S3 and Oettinger ones are virtually the same yet both are designed for the manual box. The only one I see that will fit is the Forge Twintercooler andthis looks like the option I'll end up going for unless anyone has any other alternatives or knows for definite that the S3 one fits.

Help!!!

Wouldnt VW and Audi between them be able to tell you if it fits?

Not necessarily as they aren't standard fit :undecided:

It is a bit academic now as I've gone ahead and bought a Forge one

I am in the process of ordering the S3 Intercooler, it comes with all nec pipe work incl and fits straight onto the ED30, my tuner has fitted two(1 Seat) already and reckons 2-3 hours work and will cost £499 fitted hoping to have it done for the trip to Awesome.

Gaz Its Star Performance, the intercooler roughly £330-60 incl vat alone, with fitting £499.Its slightly bigger and thicker and made of alloy unlike the plastic OEM one, the cooler comes with the necessary pipe work too.A guy ran some before and after vag-com checks and reckons  a reduction in temperature of 20%.
