Do all Golf Gtis have Air con?

Considering this thread has been brought up, how does climate control work?? Iv never really read the manaul  :embarassed:

You can basically set the temp you want, press auto and it will maintain a constant temp in the car, by applying more or less heat/cool air automatically.. Bit like a thermostat..

cheers guys, just checked mine at it doesnt have AC it has something called ECON??  any ideas what that is??  I guess I dont have AC then..Bugger!

From what I understand, the econ button when on swiches the AC off, so yours maybe on automatically unless you press the ECON button on.. Maybe wrong though!

If by chance its an Irish Market Gti it didn't come with basic aircon as standard until late '06, climate was always an extra.

Don't panic! You do have aircon. VW confused us all in earlier versions with this "ECON" button. ECON effectively turns the aircon off, so when ECON is activated, aircon is off. Stupid really. Current cars have a simple AC button instead.
So, just select a temp (18-20 degrees is best), press AUTO and leave it to do its work...

hurrrrm. She is an early 06 and it has climate control.. I should look through the manual really to see what this ECON is?

Perhaps it give me an additional 25Hp or something??

Disengages the aircon compressor clutch, improves mpg and less power drain from the engine. I pretty much have mine on economy mode all the time, doesn't make a huge difference in our climate.. although you need to run it on full steam occasionally to keep everything moving freely.

ok cool, so what your saying is I should press the ECON button to turn the Air Con off. Perhaps ive been using more fuel as its been on all the time.

Na. For that you can order stickers to stick on your engine. They increase HP by up to 30Hp per sticker.
