Another factor is that although my insurer adds zero costs for mods such as my CF bonnet and a Quaife diff, they would add costs if I lowered my car more than it is now. There's a general assumption in the car insurance industry that bodykit+lowered = boy-racer = higher insurance risk.
Are you still with Directline for your car insurance, as I am and have inquired about uprating the cars suspension and there is a cost for that mod. There are several grades of modification to the suspension starting with self leveling, lower and uprated, all mods come with a additional cost depending on the mod cost (£1-£1000, £1001-£2000 and £2001 up). As I see it with what you have (springs, shocks & ARB's) it defo uprated...
Surely the mods you have CF VW, CF Bonnet, R32 Rear with CF Insert, 18"Monza II, Front Lip, CF Front Centre, AP BBK, Carbino Intake, Remap, CF Engine Cover, Miltech, Audio Sat-Nav Upgrade, Eibach ARB's, Eibach Pro-Kit, Koni FSD's you MUST be paying a premium over and above the standard cost of insuring you car.... Please Tell...
I had to declare that I had tints @ 30% side and rear (£250), BBS 19" Ch's (£1350) and was charge another £68 plus an extra £200 excess because these fell into the £1001-£2000 band. I was told that the tints wouldn't generate a cost but I still had to tell them and the wheels even through are VW spec were put on/change after the car was purchased from new. That does mean I can have the springs done and there won't be any additional cost... Which is a good thing
I would be VERY interested in you view / answer. I had read that you said you had a good relationship with your insurer, but surely everybody should be classed the same no matter how famous you are... LOL
