update on Catalytic converter saga...
« on: 28 April 2008, 19:24 »
Well car went back today to dealers to have the new cat fitted bla bla....
Anyway cars been there all day, had a phone call at 4 o clock saying , sorry havent be able to fix your car, 1 part hasnt arrived!!!.
Ok i said when are you gonna receive it???.
"erh well its showing as part is not available in the Country, its gota come from Germany, and could be as long as a couple of weeks to get it"
So not only did i waste another day just to get a simple software update to the car and told my exhaust or cat is faulty, is going to take 3 weeks to fix!!!!!!.
So im Back in a courtesy car for the forseable future, they gave me a brand new Golf fsi GT170 with 26 miles on the clock, which was just for today, but now because its gonna take a while to sort, im now back in the Passat , ok another brand new one with 17 miles on the clock, Manual gearbox and electric handbrake (no handbrake on passats)which will take some getting used too.(my old passat had DSG)
So as you can imagine, im abit p$ssed off.

Tragic.. but why is there no handbrake in a passat? I know they're repmobiles but even a sleazy rep should be able to operate a handbrake

In practice the handbrake on the Passat does work well. Just remember you have a 'proper' handbrake when you get back in your GTI

Nice car, but I can see why you'd get bored!!

Drove a 2.0TDI 170 DSG SEL Estate today. Quick enough, but just wasn't feeling it at all! Felt more like a hearse
(And looked like one, it was black)

I'd be asking them if they could take the necessary part from another car, rather than wait three weeks for a new part to arrive. I feel for you Phil, I know I wouldn't want my car at the stealers overnight, let alone three weeks

a quick question. why does it take upto 3 weeks to get the part from germany. offer to drive (in there car) to go and get it yourself. (pop in to the ring on the way back)
