Changing discs pads and hose's

How easy on a MK3 16v 1997 front and rear discs pads and front hose's?

Basic diy'er with a haynes manual be able to do this?? me for example.

When i changed mine on the front, the haynes was a far to long way, you can just pull the caliper off, and pull them out, and prise the news ones in, without having to take apart the caliper and bleed it all etc.

I took about an hour to do front discs and pads, and that was my first time

does the disc just unscrew from the hub?

Hoses? bleeding involved in these I expect but they look like the simply unscrew.

Yes mate hoses just unscrew.

will need to source me parts and a couple of saturdays to do the front then the back, I have unitl the 25th of april to get them done, ho thats 2009.

Looks like I can get all the parts for around £100-150 so will surely be so much cheaper to fit myself.

I have seen people doing pads before, looks like a 2 minute job, just never done it myself.

did all 4 corners on mine in about 2 hours, rears wil give you the most hassle, you will have probs getting the wheel bearings out the disc as this is where they are so buy new ones, they are a right pain to get into the new disc without damaging them, they really are a pain but do able, its just very tight fit, you will also need new lock pins (can get them at halfords for pence) and you will need a lock washer for each side unless your are mint which i doubt, these are about a quid at the dealers.
wheel bearings are about 12 to 15 quid per side

its a faffy job getting the rear calipers in bits if you aint ever done it before... you need a good set of alen keys too, you will see what i mean \

and the most inportant thing of all, you will need the caliper wind back tool, without this you will NOT finish the job, these are arount 15 quid at halfords, made by a company called Lazer..

everybody body has forgotten about bleeding with new hoses!! mine was a bastrd and needed pressure bleeding!! the pre 96 (mk2 type) rear calipers cause great fun due to the bleed screw being in the most unless place ever and I recon you'll need to bleed all 4!

he shouldnt need to blead them if he uses a G clamp or the polly bag over the resovoir opening trick, . i found them very easy to bleed tho on my 93 car, 5 min job, i used the G clamp on the hose and the polly bag over the resovoir opening and when i bled them as a test, their was no trapped air what so ever

not hard to bleed tho, my mum could "bleed"ing do it
