Camber & Toe angles etc?????
« on: 22 April 2008, 08:53 »
Does anybody know the correct camber angles etc for a MK2 8v GTI running on standard 14 inch steel wheels.  The tracking is out and the verticle alignment looks different, this is causing handling problems - and it looks like I am not alone on this one.

Does anybody know where (and I am sure I've read it somewhere on here) to find out what the correct settings should be.  I want to make sure the bloody garage sets it correctly this time so when they do the tracking everything is correct, also can you adjust the rear wheels as one sits slightly further back than the other (visually)

All the information and links on this would be appreciated.

shouldn't correct angles be 0?

i'm running negative 2 camber on my front wheels and it looks great! surely the tracking all wheels should be pointing forward (my mk2 didnt have one wheel pointing forward (or in the same directino as the other 3 for that matter)

surely the place will give you as print out of it before and after alignment. but im sure the rears can be difficult or unadjustable.. or i could be wrong

Some people prefer to set the front camber angle to -1.5°.  This may look better and help reduce understeer etc etc

Adjusting camber effects tracking so this will need to be set up afterwards.  Also setting up camber properly is quite tedious so take it to a reputable garage if you are not DIYing it.
