I have this posted in the ICE section too, just I'll get more veiws here so;

I have just removed my old cassette player from my old '88 mk2.

The cassette player works fine. plug the power wire in at the least and it will fire up.

I have a bog standard Sony CD player nothing special or brand new. Just a standard second hand CD player. When I plug that in, nothing happens. Sometimes you can hear it starting to power up... sounds like its trying to spin the CD inside but that is it, nothing comes up on the screen, no sound, nothing.

Now I know the power in my cars behalf is ok, becuase the old cassette player works fine when I tried it again.

And I know the CD players power wiring is ok too, because it works in my mates newish corsa (53 plate).

I have no idea really what this could be? Could it be that my car is only giving enough power to power the old cassette player not the CD player? May I need to change to a higher Amp fuse in my fuse box?

Any ideas pleeeasse!

could require the extra 12v live from the memory wire (yellow) i guess?

Sometiems you have the possibility to bridge the 2 and feed 12v live into both the red and yellow, in a Y form.. Found this in my amtes 53 Astra.  :smiley:
