Hello Everyone,

Having spent the last 3 years with the Peugeot GTi fraternity, I have hopefully "seen the light" and decided to go German.  I sold my 306 GTi-6 only yesterday and am now in the market for a Mk2 Golf GTi (only preference being that it is black and 3dr  )  Im sure that this forum will provide me with everything I need to know about anything VW golf related, and I will be spending most of my time routing through the for sale section trying to find "the one".  If anyone has any other good sources for finding un-abused Mk2s I would appreciate the advice!

Many Thanks
Faraz

Welcome.

Odd choice as I would consider the 306 to be a far better and faster car than the Mk 2!

Indeed the 306 is a far faster car than the Mk2, but in terms of appeal and presence I feel the Mk2 has the edge over the 306.  Its not all about speed anyway. I also recently started a new job and seeing 20MPG driving to and from work was making me feel physically sick.  Im not expecting a massive improvement in fuel economy with a Mk2, but its one of those cars that has always made me think "i want one of them".

Welcome

You just missed out on a tidy black MK2 16v in the classifieds here. You may want to try these sites for MK2's

Good luck with the search, took me three years to find mine

Neaty mate personally I have never liked the 306 but just thought the guy is in for a culture shock. The Gti 6 is a very good car!

I have experienced both, and find the Mk2 not far off the 306 in terms of quality.  Had a 205 GTi before the 306, now that was truly like something out of the flintstones in terms of refinement.  Im sure the golf wont give me too much of a shock.

@ greenouse - ta for the links. will have a sift thru them
