HALL SENDER??
« on: 19 April 2008, 18:39 »
Does anyone know if the hall sender on a MK2 1.8 GTi would fit my MK3 2.0 GTi?

They look the same but I suspect are probably different, I have posted on here quite a bit about the problems I'm having but to summarize:

The car intermittently cuts out and the oil light flashes, unlike some other people on here what I do with the revs makes no difference and it usually does it over 2000rpm, alot of the posts I've read say that if I can keep it over 2000rpm then I should be ok, this isn't the case with me in fact almost the opposite, it usually happens after I've been gunning it a bit the other day it did it as I was overtaking!..

I have had it on a diagnostics machine but it doesn't come up with any error codes.
I have replaced the crank sensor.
I have replaced the ECU power relay (No.30)

This is all beginning to take it's toll on my wallet and my Mrs is insisting that I should spend my money on feeding our 3 kids rather than chucking it all at the car!, fair enough I suppose?

My mate has a MK2 that he isn't going to be using for a few months so suggested if they are the same I should put that on to eliminate it?

I've got to get this sorted as I have about a 100 mile round trip to work so if it keeps doing this it's going to have to go to Golf heaven!!!

Has anyone got any ideas??

Any other suggestions what might be causing the problem?

Thanks

Very strange, lack of fault codes would usually mean it's a problem with something unmanageable by the ECU or a sensor with wide tolerances. I'd say it was the ECU relay but already replaced. Other one would be crank sensor but that's already been replaced too. I can't see the ECU coolant temp sensor causing the fault either. Was the ECU relay brand new?

Hi
Upload the picture to things like photobucket. Then on this forum put a link to the photo.
