Retrofit MFSW advice please......
« on: 19 April 2008, 09:08 »
One week into ownership of my Candy White GTi - all going well apart from the airbag fault light which has recently appeared!!   but a trip to the stealers on Monday should sort this.   Just about getting use to a manual again after having a A3 with DSG - damn left leg needed to be retrained as it aint been used for nearly 18 months!

Anyway the reason for this post is that the extras im really missing from my Golf which I had on the A3 are MFSW and bluetooth phone kit - having searched previous posts I came across a company called Hazzy Dayz based in London - they have quoted me £475 for the MFSW minus £50 if they take my old one in part ex. The OEM bluetooth phone kit is £450 !!  but will probably  opt for a parrot or the like - I really like the new Parrot MK6100 which is around £200 fitted.

The question is  - is this deal any good or does anyone know of better or cheaper companies ? I will need to have it supplied and fitted as im clueless with fitting anything like this!   The other problem  is I am based just outside Birmingham and they would charge a £35 call out fee - is there anywhere more local?  Also is £50 part ex good for my exisiting steering wheel or should I stick it on ebay??

Also what kind of functionalities does the MFSW have - I have the MFD2 system at present.

Thanks in advance.

PS. Their website is www.vwcruise.com

If you have the highline computer, you can control the Bluetooth with the stalk controls. A little bit less easy than the through the wheel though, but still very good. Look at the Seat manual on vrstu's site for information.
The Bluetooth kit can be had for around 200 UKP or less. I beliver vrstu can supply these as well.

Retrofitting the MFSW is a pain apparently.

You can certainly get the BT kit for less than that.

The MFSW is easy too.  If you go for a complete new wheel then it's a simple swap over (as long as your current airbag fits).  You'll need a new airbag wiring loom and possibly a steering controller depending on the current version in your car.
