How much should a gearbox cost?
« on: 18 April 2008, 20:45 »
Hi, how much would a MK2 16v /MK3 8V gearbox cost?  Any idea what is a reasonable price to pay?
Cheers.

I'd never pay more than £50 for an 020 gearbox, no mater what it is.  Unless of course it has recipts & proof its been rebuilt or has an LSD in it :)

not always, I've won 2 boxes off ebay for £40 and £50.  I got my current low milage town car 16v box for £50 as well, but that was from the classifieds.

You dont have to fit a 16v box, you could get a MK2 GTI 8v one instead and just change the clutch friction disc to a MK2 8v GTI one!
