Well they are pretty far up north, guess they're hoping for a local that doesn't want to travel hundreds of miles to find a better deal.

Personally I have my golf so am ecstatic the higher the prices I see for them are as hopefully it means we'll be able to get fairer prices for them when it comes time to sell.

As golf owners we should be pushing to keep prices high, lets not encourage people to push the prices of them down.

Yep true re the economics of car ownership...but its about £5k (ok dont quote me) over what I would expect! Glasses has the car at

Part-exchange Price: Excellent condition: £15700 Average condition: £14100 Below average condition:  £12550

I guess they pray on the slack jawed local yokel turning up with wads of cash falling out of their pockets. If it EVER sells at that price I will be surprised....when buying mine, i was amazed at some dealers attitudes to a sale....that said, it is on ebay...

Offers i put on 2 cars at £500 below main dealer sticker were refused, now only some 5 weeks on the cars are still for sale, and their prices reduced to the amount I actually was willing to pay!

As Arnold Clark himself has been known to say, "a sh1t deal son, is better than no deal"...something I think his sales managers these days do not take on board....and like this bunch of muppets in Perth try to take the complete p1ss out of joe public.

Your figures relate to Part ex prices, this is a VW Dealership and therefore thats not really a fair comparison.

Parkers have the part ex value for a car of this age but with 20K miles on the clock as £14475.
However they have the dealers price for a car of this age with 20K miles as £17015.

So with that low mileage its dealers price would probably go up to £18000. There oviously trying to recoup the cost of those expemsive recaro seats by adding their price straight onto the asking price. Funny how they never do that when your getting a part ex price off them though.

I agree its overpriced but the whole deal is a bit off to me, they claim its a demonstrator yet they've had it nearly 18 months, I thought there was some tax implications that meant the dealership gets stung pretty heavily if they hold on to a demonstrator that long.

I waited until my local dealer knocked £1K of the advertised price then went in and negotiated - he used the recent price drop as an excuse not to go lower until I lectured him on market forces for half an hour. I then got another £1k off the new price, 6 months tax and 2 new front tyres.
