MFA. </3.
« on: 17 April 2008, 18:49 »
Right then guys, quick question about my MFA. At the moment it's only displaying the clock, and when I press the MFA button nothing happens, but all the wiper features work fine. I've done the usual remove the fuse/disconnect the battery but to no avail. Does this sound like the stalk to be at fault or the clocks? My rev counter doesn't work either so I've got a spare set of clocks kicking about which could do with changing over but I'd rather fix the MFA before I fix the rev counter tbh!

Ta in advance!

I have had the same problem for months

The MFA issue and the rev counter not working are definately the same problem - on my car the rev counter comes on sometimes (accompanied by a few flashes of the coolant light) and the MFA starts functioning at the same time, and I have the clock all the time.

Apparently it could be a voltage regulator problem or something? I'd take it apart and check all the connections too I guess, but them I'm quite useless with anything electronic, hence not fixed my own yet haha

Yeah me too! I'll have a bash at changing the clocks later and will report back to see if there's any difference.

I had the exact same problem but just got some new clocks off ebay and it all worked, definately something internal in the clocks.

I have had the same proplem with my Rev counter & MFA on my 91 8v GTI for over a year. I finaly sorted it out by purchasing a second hand set of clocks off ebay(£50 ouch). Make sure you match up with the same set of clocks ie year, 8v or 16v. All you then have to do is change the speedo out of the old set into the new so that your mileage remains correct.  Lucky Bidding!!
