I know, I've contemplated that many a times, but I don't wanna risk it, purely because my mates Clio that was lowered with alloys, didn't tel them about the lowering, and ended up have his alloys stolen and car being broken into, they refused to give him the payout they originally were gonna give him after finding out.

It's just too risky imo.

lol or "its always been like that, i thought it was standard."

My neighbour drove into my mondeo and wrote it off (the reason i now have a GTI :D ) I had fitted a full leather interior to it that i got cheap from a m8. When the car got valued it went down as an optional extra and boosted the amount of money i was paid out for it by a fair amount :D

17's look fine, need to be on its ass, i have my coili's quite low, do get a little rubbage now and then but it doesnt bother me and i can still have people in the back. go for 7" wide with an off set of 37, you can get the car very low with that set up without arch mods

Id lower it before fitting any wheels to be honest..

A standard car lowered looks better than one with bigger wheels thats ridin like a 4x4

Slam yours on coilovers and it will looks pretty sweet

agreed. il be sropping mine before i get new 16" alloys ... handles bad enough as it is ... hate to think what it would be like on 17s

16's the best for handling and 17's for looks I think...

but agreed with comments about lowering it first, its not that much hassle and insurance shouldn't cripple you just for lowering and alloys FFs... they get enough as it is...

mine handles fine on 17's too and it's not lowered yet. i found that tyres were wayyyyyyyyyyy more expensive for 16's and they are not so common.
