Can a DSG be rolling roaded?

Hi there,

Just got of the phone to a tuner who said there isnt much point rolling roading a car with DSG as you cannot get an accurante figure. He siad something about the gear kicks down or something.

Has anyone else ever heard this or is he talking poop?

I think he is talking poop considering a few members here such as Hurdy have had their cars with DSG rolling roaded...not sure if roaded is a word but im sure you get what i mean  :smiley:

I've had mine on the rolling road three times at 2 different companies. Awesome have a 375bhp DSG car that they even demo on their RR days.

I think it is just that they have never learnt how to do one and so give you a pathetic excuse :angry:

....A good tuner knows how to dyno / rolling-road a DSG car.

Rolling road plots are never quite as accurate as people believe them to be anyway - There are all sorts of factors which conspire against dependable accuracy.

Im sure a thread on here a while back had most people agreeing a DSG couldnt be rolling roaded - because obv. when you floor it the car just wants to kick down. Not sure how they get around this.

The issue with DSG is getting a accurate torque figure as to run down you have to knock it into N at the right time.

As for running up, Manual mode, get into 4th and floor it - it will change at red line but if you know what this is (6600rpm) then this is your top limit.

It wont change down as long as it high enough up the rev range when you start the run.
