I could not see anything but will give it another go today. It was working for the 2 miles I drove then stuck? Nursed the old girl home, and very confused with it all. I am not a mechanic but will try what I can.

Will let you all know how I get on.

Ok, so I got the Haynes manual out and went from there. The cable was fitted as mentioned and as far as I am aware, correctly. The only thing I had wrong was the adjuster straps, I did not release it. I done this and followed the process of pressing the clutch and so forth but still the same. The pedal is not releasing back once pressed??????

I noticed on th ediagram that there should be a weight on the clutch lever arm in the engine bay. This was missing when I first had a look so I had no idea.

Old cars are starting to pi5s me off!

If you've got a new clutch cable and the pedals still not coming back up propperly I would be starting to wonder if the pressure plate is giving up ?

I spoke to my mate and went through everything I have done. He did say that as it appears to not be returning it could be that the fork end is not engaging and something about the pressure plate. Maybe a new clutch will sort it out?
