2 different injection types????
« on: 13 April 2008, 19:11 »
Hi,

After much reading, searching and questioning I have decided that my track car is going to be the 8v gti. This is based on budget, mechanical complexity, performance, and not just straight line or top end speed.

I was speaking to my mates brother who has owned both in the past and his opinion finally tipped the balance.

One thing he did say though is that he seems to remember that the injection type changed from mechanical to electrical at some point and said that I should try and get the electrical injection type rather than the mechanical one. He did stress however that this was many years, pints and funny smelling cigarettes ago so he might be talking rubbish.

Does this make any sense to anyone? and if so...... when did it change i.e. year or plate?

Thanks
Paul

Digifant as mentioned is the one you say you want to look for.

Mechanical was the K-JET Tronic, as on very early 8vs and all 16vs.

I always thought K-Jet would see better results, higher BHP/Torque, when upgraded, combined with a 2l block etc, than the Digi.

If you're trying to differentiate between the two, I'm running the K-Jet and it looks something like this...
