A quick hello to all in the mk5 section

, not new to VWs or mk5 Golfs for that matter as I had a modified 140 TDI before and a good few TDIs and GTIs etc before that, but have a question about my fairly recently acquired GTI. It's a 40,000 mile 54 plate early car in grey. Manual btw.
This is aimed at those who have slightly older and higher mileage cars really but it would also be useful for owners of newer GTIs to give me some feedback.
Not sure if my car has an issue with the accelerator pedal, it seems pretty slow to pick up unless the pedal is pushed in about an inch or so. Once past the first bit of deadish travel it's off and away.
I can remember test driving a few before I got my previous diseasel and don't remember the dead throttle pedal travel. My wife's Polo is fine, touch the pedal and off you go, my Diesel mk5 was fairly similar to the GTI but then again the 140 doesn't have quite the same low rev urge of the 130 and 150 1.9 units despite nominally the same torque figures in my experience.
I don't remember many of my 1.8Ts and 1.9PDs feeling so dead on throttle pedal application and there's no play in my GTIs pedal so the spring 'feels' okay. Certainly after driving a Polo GTI with it's razor sharp throttle response my 2.0 TFSI seems 'not quite right'.
If this is typical of GTIs then has anyone tried the Sprint-booster device?
TIA
