So is there only one version of the Cam follower (bucket bit) and they revised the actual CAM in the later models?  Wondering if its worth asking the dealer to check or just get one fitted myself for the sake of £20 ...

Do VW check this proactively?
rather than let the wear destroy the cam? not to mention the swarf then floating around!

As far as I know it wouldn't be checked as a matter of course but only if the relevant fault codes are stored.
