so how are they on track?

Counting down till I get my SE30
who has been on track (eg Croft or silverstone etc) would be interested in how you got on. Brake fade?tendency to understeer? TC too sensitive?
Done a load of trackdays in lotuses etc and quite fancied the odd one.

I am guessing some decent brake fluid and padgid pads might be a wise investment

lots of people claim of breaks fading, real downer! however i have not done any track days.

i find the TC kicks in even when its "off" when i dont believe it needed too, cutting the power which is annoying! recent post i made.

Cheers for that, I have raced at Comb - the lack of run-offs would make it not my first choice for a trackday!

does anyone have any video footage of their racedays. I seem to have gone through all the ed30/gti race days on youtube whilst waiting to pick mine up. Doesn't seem to be many on there although I suppose people are there to drive and not film

You are not actually 'allowed' to take photos or film whilst driving, and are warned that if you do you will get kicked off the track.  That said, my co-driver did a bit of photography and no one said anything.   

Basically they are very well organised, good day out and relatively inexpensive (£150 a day) plus your fuel!.  But, and this is the thing, make sure you have track day insurance (I used HIC for this) otherwise your nice new GTI/ED30 may end up like the TVR in the thread! and you will be well out of pocket.

At the end of the day life is short (and as I was about to go to Iraq, where I am typing this!!) I thought, sod it

The majority of TDs allow the use of video recorders and photos as long as the camera is mounted to the car by a proper mount. Think this is to stop it becoming a projectile!

I've about done 7 now in the 2 years that i've owned mine albeit standard GTI.

Brakes have been fantastic I have to say. Still on original pads. Fluid changed last month. Very impressed with how long they are lasting. Not had any brake fade problems at all.

My next outing is Castle Combe in May. Do that track twice a year normally.

Thought Cadwell Park would kill my brakes but no problems were had.

At the end of the day..you drive on track to your own limits. I'm out there to have fun, not set any records!

Good to hear that report - Cadwell if my fav - a real 'drivers track'

The real brake killer is Donington. But to be fair most brake fade can be cured with some race fluid and some decent pads.

I've done Donington Park and the only corner that hurts is the final one for the chicane from the long back straight onto the front straight.

I tend to brake early for that..but a friend that has AP 6 pots on his is more than happy to out brake me every time! 

Still I tend to out run him thru craners and old hairpin.
