golf gti mk2 8v on a f plate
« on: 10 April 2008, 22:13 »
Hey all, im new too this site

I have just bought a low mileage well 70k f plate 3 door mk2 gti in bright red from an old chap, who owned it since new, and has fsh from the local vw garage for £1400, it is totally original and so clean its untrue, the only thing he has changed is he got some original bbs wheels for it.

is it a good price? starts first time, must have been polised every week since new, have i done well?

Nath

always liked Mk2 and the cost didnt seem that much for a classic.

£1400 is a fair price to pay for a original mk2 golf gti 8v with low mileage anf fsh, seen them fetch over £2k tho before now

Back to your GTI. 1 owner from new with 70k & FSH is fantastic mate. Dub's get better the more miles they have on them. Did you ever see Topgear (or could have been Men&motors?) where they put two Golf GTI MK2's against each other?  One had something silly like 10k and the other had over 100k. The one with over 100k thrashed the 10k one, so basically yours is still not even run in yet!  There are a few gremlins with the MK2, air leaks, idle troubles etc but nothing that you cant find out on here and do it yourself, also parts are fairly cheap these days with the likes of GSF or Euro parts.

that was an old top gear (from like 1993), the clip was on youtube. it was a golg gti 2nd hand buying guide, and JC had big curly afro hair!

I don't think a semi will give the same results
