New car new woes please help me!

Hi all just got a gti, its a mk 4 1999 1.8 t got a few niggles with it and i was wondering what you guys think?

1. Just after starting the car, 1st gear boot it change up into 2nd and it will crunch abit feels almost like its still spinning in the box (yup got me foot all the way down on the clutch!) this goes away once you have been driving the car for 10 mins or more

2. car never gets up to temp, thermostat gone? anyone done this how much will it cost to fix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do your heaters blow hot? If thay do you need a new temp sender:

true but hey non turbos cope well my escort did and i have her for 2.5 years

its mainly the turbo ones you have to keep ya eye on

i never drive mine until it hits 90 (half way on temp gauge)

wow u guys are good! ok sounds no booting me car until its got up to temp. regarding the lack of heat issue, when i am going along a motorway cars cold, when i come off poddle round town the temp goes up. if i put me blower on i do get hot air. what ya guys think?

Temp sender very common fault - about £20 from the dealer or get one here : www.vagparts.co.uk

if you have hot air then the thermostat shold be o.k so if its jus the gauge then it could just be needles getting stuck

and yh less booting lol otherwise you'l be finding yaself having to replace the turbo

Your car will have a fault code stored on the ecu which you will need to get cleared when you change the temp sender
