Try your yellow pages for a mobile mechanic.

They can charge less than garages. Probs cost you £100 with parts on your door step

i think 120 would be about right considering tensioner and belt is about £50 quid of that, based on gsf prices.

you could do it yourself it not actually a difficult job , just get everything timed up before you undo the tensioner & do it when the engines cold.

rope a mate in you could do it in under an hour on your 1st attempt

I get my cambelt kit with new tenssioner etc.. for £24.00 and thats not on trade,  its £18.00 trade.  thats a powergrip kit which are pretty good.   I wouldnt pay more than £40 for the kit then £80 fitting.

you can just buy the cambelt and convert it to a mk2 style tensioner as the MK3's are renowned for being rubbish esp when replaced with a non VAG kit....

the best suggestion is a mobile mechanic if not doing it yourself......

does anyone know how much a garage would charge to reset my timing and CO2?......

also get the water pump changed at the same time as they have a history of being poor...especially the original ones. This will add £50ish to the bill but if you replace the belts and the pump goes...have to do them all again so extra expense

is it worth buying a genuine VW belt & tensioner? (how much are they from VW?)

are GSF/euro parts just as good?
