I've just got a MK3 8V GTI, and was wondering what the options are.
Whats been tried and tested, and what works and what doesn't.
What are people running and what sort of power figures are they getting.
What are good companies to use.
I've had a lot of experiance with ford engines, but none with VWs.
At the moment I'm thinking:
Head work
Cams
replace dizzy with wasted spark system (e.g MJLJ)
Manifold
Is the standard injection system worth keeping?
What carbs fit? Is it better to go for throttle bodies (well oboviously, but do the benefits outweigh the costs)?
Or should I just go for a nitrous injection system, and keep everything standard until I wanted more power.
Maybe convert to MJLJ as it has switchable maps so I could retard the ignition when on the bottle.
Turbo and supercharger are also options, but I know little about these.
