R32 - True power output
« on: 06 April 2008, 14:00 »
Has any R32 members on here got any rolling road data that they would care to share. When we were at the Awesome rolling road day we realised that there wasn't a solitary R32 there. We even tried to apprehend a scouser who had an R32 in for a full Milltek, but he was having none of it. The only data I can easily find is in the link below, but the results on there would worry me if I had an R32.

I'm looking for clutch power calculated back to power at the flywheel to get a good comparison.

Anyone?

Or are you R32 owners hiding a secret of lower power outputs than VW state? :undecided:

I know quite a few people with the Mkiv R32's and they seem to get to the full 240 or so BHP. I think alot it will have to do with how the engine loosens up. The difference between new and 10k is incredible.. totally different. If I get the chance to have a RR i will do.. but I dont think I will be going out of my way to get one done.

Or maybe we are luring you ED30's into a false sense of security

In the rototest they seem to be making the stated power okay, so maybe it's just the owners who are a little rolling road shy

Maybe some of you R32 owners will turn up at the Spring festival and have a go or two down the 1/4 mile?

I'm sure Topher will be up for it. What about you R32UK? you live in the Leeds area and so it's just a hop down the M1 to the Pod

on topic, there is a rolling road day being organised by *cough* UKMKIV's being held on the 19th April and yet again, not one MKV R32. Is it just that you owners know you are going to get 240bhp to 250bhp and so think that it isn't worth doing?

TBH its just the timing of this RR day that was a little difficult. In fact i am usually busy most of the time.. (except when I am at work and able to come online). This month is particularily bad as I have staff on holiday. Going away end of nextmonth so as long as it dont fall on any of those periods I should be ok.

Not really concerned with things like RR... just want to get the car to a track and give a real blast!!

Can't say that I've been particularly bothered to RR a standard car, maybe once I start modding it, but there isn't that much available at the moment. Not convinced with what milltek have put out for the mk5 R32, and the only intakes I like the look of need to come from the states. Again with software, there are so few of these around that it's hard to get an overall unbiased opinion.

I was planning on doing the 1/4 next weekend, just need to remember where I put my driving license :lipsrsealed:

And I'm hoping for rain.. or snow

Yep, it was me who posted that here. I'm keeping an eye on it, have been in contact with them but its still tagged as 'in development' for now. To be honest though I could probably build a bespoke setup with more power for around the same price.

Wow! If you could do that i think you might find more people would be interested in getting one. About 300-350bhp should be sufficient i would think. Keeping costs down would be a big plus for many too I would imagine.

That C2 kit seems rather interesting but for some reason im not too convinced about the price? How come its so cheap compared to ther tuning companys such as MTM?
