hey guys you may remember my last thread (the one where i crashed my beloved golf) well since that day (14th feb) i've been hunting for a new Golf but to no avail....

I'm looking for one that was basically the same as my old one, or one with the mods i had in mind. The search is not going well at all and i havent been able to find a decent example for my budget which is 4-5k. I'm looking for a 2000-1, 3door, turbo with the proper recaro interior. I have seen one that has caught my eye but am not sure. I rang the seller and he seemed honest enough (admitted to few scrathes and wear and tear), told him the price was very high and that it would have to come down, but price aside what do you guys think. I need honesty hear so let rip with what ever you think.

As im not sure its a great idea to buy a golf that has already been chipped but then again my old one was chipped and that was a nice example, and alot of you guys on here have had it done and you all take care of your golf's, am i stereotyping 

Anyway let me know what you think of the link below (dont consider the price) or if you know of a 2000-1 (preferably AUM) 3dr golf for sale.

I miss having a GTI and need to get involved with the forum again!

Yeah i know what you mean about a modded car - im the same wouldnt buy one TBH BUT that car looks like she has been VERY well looked after (oil change every 5000 that beats my 6000 lol )

I would say go and have a look meet the seller and make you mind up from there. You can tell a lot by meeting the seller IMO and if its been really looked after by general things like the sound of the engine - any unusual noises and condition of the paint etc etc.
Loving the wheels on that car BTW 

Plus as you used to own a golf 1.8T you know all the little things to look out for

yeah its a nice looking motor, but all depends on what kind of person the owner is. I swear it wasnt as hard as this to find a decent golf before, but i guess last time i didnt have a benchmark to judge everything else too, that and this forum has made me so critical of all Golfs that are not perfect or modded in a nice subtle way! i'm also quite a noob when it come to suspension, are koni a decent make and what type should i be hoping they are?

It's done over 100k, for that I'd say about 3.5-4k really.

My personal opinion has always been that mod's add no financial value onto a car

Looks a very nice example and id say it's worth its money if everyting is ok, you only get what you pay for and if the seller is willing to drop the price alot then there must be a reason why, whats my opinion anyway

As for the mileage i wouldnt worry about it been over 100k if it's bean looked after it will have another 100k in it

as said 100k doesnt matter if well looked after thats all that matters, id knocked him down a bit IMO.

its been in a family for 6 years so thats good even tho its modded i cant see it being a problem just have a look and no doubt u might just fall in love again!!!!
