Upgraded headlamp loom, might start making them?
« on: 05 April 2008, 20:20 »
As most of us know that the MK2 Golf and Corrado headlamps are not the best. This is not down to the bulbs but down to a drop in voltage to the headlamp itself due to the loom.

Ive made and fitted 4 upgraded looms so far. One for my Golf, another for a neighbours Golf, a mates Corrado and Jayton's Golf off here.

Jaytons Golf was reading 10.8v into the bulbs, once my loom was fitted it was reading a healthy 14.0v. My Golf was reading 11.2 into the bulbs, now they are 14.0v. The differance is great when the lights are on.

I was thinking that I could make up the looms with wiring instructions (easy to wire up!) and sell them for £15...... But.... would anyone be interested?  I could also fit if owner is willing to travel to Milton Keynes.

Please let me know your thoughts,

Many thanks,

Paul.

I would say that a fair amount of people would be interested. I myself have an upgrade kit for my G60, but have not yet fitted it. If I didn't have one, then I would be interested. Make them up anyway and stick them on ebay and on the classified section here.

They are a good investment  I'm chuffed with the amount of light I get now WITH the original headlamps and stock bulbs ( Replaced the dodgy Xenon 60/55w's I had with the bulbs that were on the car originally ) all I need now is 100/110w bulbs

Equipment needed.
1.)Multimeter/Voltmeter

Remove the headlamp plugs, turn the ignition half way and turn the lights on, point the needle of the multi/volt meter into the pin holes, think the 'middle' one is always 1 of the pins you need to have a needle in. Also don't forget to set the multi/volt meter to the correct setting  Don't want to be blowing things up
