Well I'm pleased to report that it was the strut mounts after all that, no noise at all now, well pleased!

To all those experiencing noise through the steering, it won't always be the rack and I understand the GTI's are prone to the mounts going, quick 1.5 hour job and all will be ok!!!!!

what exactly did they do ?

good news by the way

They were able to isolate the news and feel it by placing their hands on top of the strut mounts, was like a slight popping noise rather than a grinding noise. Plus the top of the strut mounts were rusty, not good after just 6 months  although apparently a common problem.

So they replaced the strut mounts with the newer design which I understand is sealed better so shouldn't rust???

Bottom line is the niose has gone and my car is back to normal, now all I need to do is start playing with the extra power through my bluefin

Oh yes, I'm keeping up with cars that I thought would never be possible, but then with about 230bhp/ton (more than a c32 amg and old style m3) I'm not at all surprised and yes like yours, its defo getting quicker by the day, not forgetting that on 99ron fuel it will go even quicker still

Hi Telboy,

Yeah lovin’ it! All run in now!

Just had it detailed and fitted the rear LEDs. Started a new topic with a link to Detailing World... shame it’s now raining.
Keep smiling... Hotrod
