What does the 40 on Polo G40, and the 60 on Golf G60s stand for? Is it how much extra BHP it is over standard? Always wondered!!

The G is the supposed G shape of the internal part of the charger and the 60 and 40 are the respetive size in mm of the internal scroll/bore width..

The Polo 1.3 G40 is 116bhp and the Golf 1.8 8v G60 is 160bhp (I think). So the G60 gives 40 odd bhp more than the standard 1.8 8v.

the "DRAGON" is correct the 60 and 40 relate to the gap between each level of scrol within the unit and is nothing to do with the power increase.

The 'standard' bhp is 160BHP, like a 150 20vT can be wound up, just like the G60. And yes, the noise from a G is awsome!
