I've got a pretty neat ice install at the moment and it really kicks, and sounds soo crisp. Alpine HU, Alpine 6" comps, Jbl 1000 mono, 2 old school subs run with 0gauge. Its not as if i go around town with my bass turned up full with my windows down.

Like i said i seriously love my sounds so im planning of combining the two. Tunes with stripped out theme and a roll cage.

You cant beat a late summer afternoon blatting down the b-roads with your fav tune!!

fair one, I had an mtx 10" sub in my mk2 - im not totally against them just a generalization about peoples over obsession with subs in car audio installs.... I want an alpine head unit!!!

Im stripping my mk3 from the front seats back _ ie so it still feels like a 'normal' car sat in the front...il take some pics once I have finished at the weekend

if you love your tunes then keep em then. if you dont you will probably regret taking it all out. could you live without the subs though?

going back to your 90's look theme. i remember my school/college max power days and there were quite a few caged up cars with nice neat installs in a pannelled out rear.

Care to explain?

I think people have explained it pretty clearly.

If you add weight such as sub-woofers and component speakers then you will blunt the performance of your car fairly swiftly.  For me that will dent the enjoyment of a favourite road pretty quickly, as it also dulls the car's responses, too.

Either you want some sort of rolling nightclub, or an every day car to enjoy driving, or something stripped out which allows you to focus on driving, rather than listening to music.  It's simply not possible to listen to music AND drive quickly and safely on a B-road.  For a start you won't be able to hear what the car is doing - engine and suspension.

Thing is different people's ideas of a good drive vary - maybe you're someone who likes driving like a big girl, rather than driving the car properly, in which case you might as well put your sound system in and you shouldn't need a roll-cage (unless your music distracts you that much).

I guess my point is go one way or the other, don't try to do both - it looks chavvy and dysfunctional.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

lewis i seem to remember it aswel. Boarded/carpeted rear with twin subs and a polished roll cage i thought it looked the dogs. I also remember a few years back there was a red mk1 gti in pvw, it had 16's, slammed stripped out rear, polished roll cage and a sound system. Oh it also had a fit bird stood next to it! I can try and dig out the mag but its in the loft somewhere

Thanks diamond i will take your answer and keep it in the back of my mind. I understand what your saying but maybe as an everyday car completly stripping out everything maybe way to much. Although i might ditch the subs but keep the front comps

thats probably the best compromise. previous owner of der panza loved nothing more than b road thrashing with metallica blaring out. he just has front components as a compromise
