yeah this can be the CV gaiter as its part of the drive shaft and the steering rack is attached to the drive shaft so you would feel it throught the steering wheel

In terms of PAS pump issues, check the PAS belt isn't too tight as this can wear out the pump faster, plus check the fluid has been changed at some point as it will break down over time.

In terms of steering issues, if it isn't CV joints, IIRC knackered track rod ends will effect your handling badly, and might cause tracking to keep altering. I think they're really cheap to replace. Also you could try getting your motor up and look for any play in bushes etc. when you wobble a wheel (be careful not to knock the car off its stands though!!).

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi when you say suspension fitted where the wishbones bushes done or checked, this all sounds like an wishbone bush to me, probable a front one. Does the pulling change when boot it? does it wander when your trying to sit at a steady speed sort of 50+?

Best guess is a front wishbone bush and it will be the opposite side to the way it pulls under acco. The PAS sounds like it needs the fluid changing, as has already been said but change the belt too and check that all the bolts are tight and the correct tension is on the belt.

Hope you find the prob.

Hmmm no it was just the shocks, springs, bump stops, top mounts and associated metal plate thingys (no idea of names) that were done.

On one side the drive shaft popped out of the CV joint (I think) when fitting the suspension and the clip thing got completely mashed into it. A mechanic friend of Mr Kittie cleaned it all out and re-greased and re-fitted it with new clips and that, and it seemed ok afterwards, but I guess it could be bollocksed.

The car was UBER wandery before this was done - really hard to keep in a straight line to the point of being dangerous! At the monent it only pulls about when crossing white lines/cats eyes that sort of thing. Feels like tracking is out yet again (even though it shouldn't be having recently been done at the dealership)

Wishbone bushes and track rod ends weren't done. As far as I'm aware from looking through the extensive receipt collection the bushes haven't ever been changed! I will see how much this'll cost  :undecided:

PAS fluid was changed when the pump was put on I think (the first pump was faulty and it pissed all the fluid out anway ) so should be ok but may as well get yet another pump on with new belt and fluid I guess when funds allow!

Im not that good with cars but mine started following lines on the road when i put 17s on it. and also ive noticed that when it rains the power steering goes . I think the belt gets wet and slips as its right next to the wheel. Dont know if this is any help
