That's f**king extortion!

I'm with Admiral (same as Elephant) and with a bit of haggling you can usually get somewhere.  Don't phone at the weekend or you'll get an Indian call centre (who have no understanding of UK cars, and no authority to do anything "not on their screen").

I managed to get em down by about ?100 on my premium, and they came down from ?200 extra to about ?50 extra for new wheels and lowered suspension.  Threatening to leave always works.  ;)  Now paying ?590 fully comp (I'm 24 with 3yrs no claims). Not bad eh?

Rich.

clucking bell! good old elephant.co.uk for me, tick a few boxes for mods and all covered. the insurance only covers making the car back to standard but legally all the mods are ok. fair enough i reckon for the excellent price they did me :)

yeah im with them and thats what i got, i also got aome weird bonus accelerator as well. what if you mod with only standard parts? superchargers, 2litre blocks etc???

it will always change the premium as you are more of a risk, but if they cover your mods on having a 2 litre G60 in a 1.6 driver and you have it nicked the money you get back will be based on it being a 1.6 driver, nothing more

Yeah, elephant (& admiral) are not bad for that - that's all I've done.
I reckon if you start modding big-time, they'll get expensive.
