I think I have got 300 once after 4500 miles in my ED30 so far, I cannot control my right foot with it. I just love feeling the boost at 4500rpm, its addictive!!

On my runs to work this week so far i have averaged 37.5 mpg, thats having little fun and sitting at a fairly constant 40-50 mph, thats with a bluefin, milltek combo and dsg in auto, running on ultimate. plus my cars been run in for 16k now too.
although my average is still only 29 mpg in general

I think mine is definately too low

From all the replies 27-30 should easily be achievable..however 21-22 is just wrong. I NOT driving enthusiastically, in fact at the moment I am driving with the instantaeous MPG display trying to get stay on the most economical value for as long as possible, but on my drive to work today the ave mpg on computer 1, showed 18MPG!!

Perhaps I am driving it too slowly!

Is this something a stealer EVER successfully resolves? Has anyone EVER taken their car to the dealer with an issue like this and found a successful fix?...on ANY car?

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

How far is your journey to work?...

ok ive read the beginning,  10 mile each way, and a lot of it stuck in traffic, sounds about right to me.

the car wont even be warmed up.

ive seen 34 out of mine and that was a 40 mile journey, 30 mile of it on a motorway never doing more than 70.

ive seen people on here quote some ridiculous figures for mpg, when you get to the bottom of it they get there figures by resetting the mpg when they hit the motorway.

at the end of the day its a 2litre turbo, what did you expect?

27-30 on average yes.
However as other posters have said when its cold the avg drops significantly for the first 2 miles or so

You say instantaneous readout on comp1 , but thats averaged too , so looks really bad at the start of a journey from cold but improves as you go further/warmer

The next option along (another press) is instantaneous rapidly changing
This should show high values when off the throttle , up to 170 mpg ish where it then goes '----' on liftoff of throttle.

Very short journeys will hurt the mpg badly , but I still think from what you said with a std GTI you should be getting more.
Check your tyre pressures too

you dont Manu , for R32 drivers its a special number generator that has a max value of 18

for the rest of us its part of the MFD options displayed , scrolled through using s/wheel buttons etc
