Selling your Golf after modding it...
« on: 31 March 2008, 13:12 »
Sorry, this should have gone into the MKIV section!!

It's pretty much a fact that modified Golfs generally go for less than standard ones, so do people recommend 'un-modding' their Golf before selling it? Eg, putting on the standard wheels, suspension, etc.. Has anyone found that you can sell a non standard Golf easily? How easy is it to convert back to standard stuff like suspension, valances, badges, etc after a year or so of not using them?

you'll make more money putting it back to standard cos you can get more for the mods selling them as parts.
Also your potential market is much bigger for the car as alot of people (me included) wouldn't buy someone elses modded car unless they knew it beforehand.

Stealthy - No I'm not, ask me in a year or so though!

Yeh agreed. Point being I'm not thinking of doing anything to me Golf that can't be reversed again.

im the same, i hunted for a stock mkIII that i am happy with (after my awful mkII)

if anything, its nice to have it as standard and "do" you own mods to add your own style to something. so any modifications i do to mine, will ultimately be reversable.

suspension, lights and wheels.

basic mods that are easily reversible, and i have returned my alst two cars to standard when i sold them, or at least kept the original parts and given them to the new owner so they can return it to original form if they wish.

noble tuned - and still not fast enough!

If its done properly and with reputable tuner parts you will have no problems selling a modded car. There is a big tuner market out there and I've sold plenty of modded cars with no problems at all, and 9 times out of 10 to enthusiasts like me. Much better to deal with a petrol head than most of the tyre kicking morons you get selling a standard car.

You do get the odd ruuude boy, but if they say innit bruv once then the conversation ends pretty quick.
