sounds very similar, for the sake of ?80 it might be worth tryin it, the bosch plasticy thing sh1t anyway so wouldn't do any harm! Does it seem to come from the left handside of the engine? more noticable in lower gears, lesser noise, when you work ur up them?

Its all better now very shiny, but now the windows have gone again! and shocks are squeaking like mice!!aarrgghhh

yeah could be the recirculation valve, for the sake of ?80  might be worth upgrading, i though this was one of the first mods to be done to any VAG turbo engine.  Also might be worth checking all the hoses under the bay, especially intercooler and air intake hoses, may have perished rubber and letting air past under pressure, this would give the bigger lag and also the noise you describe. My money is on the recirculation valve though.

Guys, I have added my pics of the DV installation to my gallery.  Let me know
what you think?

The total price for the DV was ?102

I've also contacted Motor Sports to let them know that the small vacuum pipe at the top of the valve doesnt fit the pipe from the car.  They're going to check this and get back to me.

Why did you need to extend the pipe on to of the dv? Just Curious

This is a good link for DIY jobs http://www.izvw.com/ photos and step by step install guides.

I've added my pics of the DV to my gallery (see link below).  The engine vacuum pipe was too small to fit on the DV hole.  The pics should show you everything.
