Just got back.

WOW !

I'm sold lol. The power delivery is just on a different planet to my Golf, its AWSOME ! Currently on hold sorting out insurance. Once I got that done and sorted Im going to stick down my deposit, woohoo !!! :D

Its a black 5 door, 30k. Pretty standard stuff but my budget doesn't stretch too far tbh, sooo excited ! (I never realised what a nice sound the MK5 makes when you floor it).

....I can feel your excitement from here!!

If you can ever afford a Milltek exhaust it sounds even nicer!!

DISASTER !!!!! :(

Hate and want to murder insurance companies. Admiral are the only company that will give me a decent quote, however I need to be 21 NOW for the quote to be of a respectable figures (£1300). Bare with me and I hope this make sense. When I input a quote but lie and say by birthday was yesterday (therefore making me 21 now) it gives me £1300, when I put in my correct birthday (26th of this month) and ask for the policy to start on the 27th (making me 21 when the policy starts) it gives me £1800 (which is just silly). Having had a MASSIVE argument down the phone with someone at Admiral there is nothing I can do other than wait till the 26th (my birthday) and take out my insurance then. Only problem is I'm scared about sticking down my £500 deposit on the car, only to find out that they have changed their prices and I have to pay silly amounts as they can not guarantee their price to cover me in 3 weeks time.

I have spoken to Paul at my local VW who I am now trying to make my new best mate and all I can do is pray its still there in 3 weeks time. His going to speak to his manager and see what they can do to help me, but without me sticking £500 on the line, I don't know what else to do.

I don't suppose anyone has any advise?

Dont you just love insurance companys!!!  All i will say is that there are plenty of GTI's around at reasonable prices.  I was looking for 2 months and found plenty that i could have gone for but i was being fussy with the spec.

I would suggest hold you money nice and tight and keep eyes peeled

Doesn't look there is a lot VW can do unless Im willing to put down my depost (which is fair enough). Im just going to have to wait 3 weeks and hope its there, if its not, start looking again.

Hopefully by this time next month :)

Feel for you mate, but as the lads have said, bide your time and take stock of the situation.

How much diff is your insu to your mk4 golf? change a few things on ALL the comparison sites, and try 3rd party for a year,up the excess slightly etc, most of these sites hold a price for a while.

I found that mileage in the year changes things, make sure you work it out mate.

Loads of gti's out there, you will prob find one with better spec for less.

21 eh,lucky bugger!!!!!!!! "i want it now"

Chris.

I've got insurance with Admiral and when I put my mum on the policy it knocked over £200 off. She never drives the car but it's worth having her on there. Also for some reason the insurance is cheaper if I tell them I will park the car on the street compared to in a garage!! Try Elephant and Bell insurance aswell. They're sister companies of Admiral but their prices vary. Hope this helps
