The surface has a deeper coat of resin over the top and (so I've read) is capable of taking a 130lb mass on it without harming it, so it would have to be a pretty big stone. I do, however take your point, if the bonnets coating was ruptured then it would take the form of a star-shaped crack and some CF bonnets can suffer from "atmospheric creep" whereby air and water penetrates and dulls the effect

. I drive as I always did and so will have to see if something does hit it

The coating is much stronger than any laquer or paint though.
