New 1.8T, what to do?

Hi Guys,
        I've just put down my deposit on 2001 GTI T. Just waiting for it to be all services etc so i can take it home next week!

       What mods do you think i can do first? Any cheap essentials i should be doing?

        I was also wondering if there was anyway of getting rid of the walnut trim it currently had? cos it's probably the only thing i'm not too keen on at the mo.

also u may have to upgrade to a new drinks holder coz thats originaly out of a R32 and that has a diferent drinks holder to the 1.8t's

It's on 60k in Indigo Blue (?)

No pics as of yet.

I've heard the ride on them is a bit sloppy. And having driven it the other day i can agree to a point.

Will uprating the shocks be good enough? or is it worth saving for some full blown coil-overs.

Was thinking of a remap also but it may push my insurance sky high!

Any opinions? I deffo going drivability over looks  at the end of the day.

dont go 4 coilovers if u want driveability there so hard and nasty from what ive heard, get the eibach pro kit and drop it 30mm maybe a R32 dogbone mount. i cant think of much more but im sure more people wil tel u more later.

another indigo blue 4 the forum i think vw must of had loadsa that stuff left over and decided to do everyone after 2000 indigo blue!!!!!!

Rhyso's going to be your new best friend 

most people change either the console trim, pedals / dead peddle and the wipers first as these are "cheap" cosmetic upgrades and have the best impact per £

after that you should be thinking about big brake upgrade 312mm or remap (doesn't have to be in that order), panel filter is another cheap upgrade and will enhance the turbo whine

at this point the next step is probably rims / shocks

I've got a BMC CDA filter from my old car. As far as i know it's universal. Would this be a bad move? Is it too restricting?

Obviously this depends on the insurance company and individual cases but in general do premiums go up a lot when declaring a remap?
