MK IV Uprated Engine Mountings
« on: 27 March 2008, 15:47 »
Hi there...I've just bought an engine mounting "thingy" from Awesome after they highly recommended it. It is kinda a red insert bush that has a large washer and reduces engine movement..
Has anyone fitted one and can they tell any difference?
Thanks
Chris.

That would be the torque arm (dogbone) insert. I haven't fitted mine yet, it's still in the glove box :embarassed:
Gazbutmkvgti has had one fitted (ECS dogbone) and says that it has reduced wheel hop on his when accellerating hard. It is a simple mod that costs very little by comparison. :nerd:

There is whats called a dogbone mount at that the rear of the engine which attaches the engine to the body to help stabilize it. The ECS or Nuespeed insert sits in the standard rear bush and stiffens it stopping some of the movement in an effort to stop the wheel hop which results from to much engine movement

They do work and it's a simple install.

A bit of silicone spray to help ease it in is advisable.  Certainly worth the ~£30 they are.

You'll need to jack the car up or use ramps to get decent access.

Neuspeed Engine Torque Arm Insert Mk5 etc
Under hard acceleration, your entire engine and transmission actually rotates due to compliance in the factory bushings. While the soft factory bushings do a good job of damping engine vibration, they can also create a rubbery, vague response in the vehicle's powertrain.

Our torque arm insert works in concert with the OE rubber bushing. With the insert installed, you car's throttle response will feel better and your shifts will feel more crisp and defined, especially on manual transmission cars.

Please note that polyurethane is not as compliant as rubber. As a result, you may notice a slight increase in ride harshess and engine vibration after installation.

Neuspeed Engine Torque Arm Insert Mk5 etc EN-NEU-BU-TRAN-MK5 £24.99

that i assume?
how do you fit it? i dont have ramps or anything like that. would i need a garage to do it?
also does it make a big offect to the engine vibration? i dont want it to feel like a badly refined engine.. :-|
