I have a ed 30, currently on the long-life regime.

My background is - I am an Engineer in the forces (20years) on Rotary Wing Aircraft.

Now I have read up on the long-life service regime, 24 months or mileage based dependent on driving style.  The oil is specially designed for this.

But with normal usage rates of anything up to 1 litre/1000Km, then concievably the oil you start with is not the same oil you finish with.

Having seen the way oil can and does break down, and lose its properties, then I feel slightly uneasy about leaving my Pride and joy at risk in this way.

Has anyone changed from LL to the STD regime?

Cheers

....I'm on the long-life VW Maintenance plan and so the oil is changed every 20k miles 'for free'. However, I also have the oil changed every 10k miles so that every alternate oil change is at my cost. I change the plugs every 20k and laser track the car every time I get ('free') tyres.
