what does the boot net look like on a 2008 edition 30 ?

not really, just mentioned the 08 and ed30 bit in case its different, ps i dont know what the gti one is like

I thought it was going to be red to match the stitching or something.

Well I've not actually used the one in my GTI, but its just a black rope net that sits on the underside of your boot cover.

ahh, ok, well i have on attached to the boot cover, is this the only one you get then ?

If you ordered the 'Storage Pack', - you'll also get a stretchy net to secure loose objects in the boot, with hooks to locate on the boot
eyelets.

About £30 if bought separately IIRC?
