Cam noise

just got a Mk2 E reg 8v cam was changed in oct, and i have a constant wering coming from what i can tell is the cam cover, bolts r all tight and cant work out wot is causing it???

Are you sure it was the cam changed and not the cam belt? It seems very strange to change the cam unless to a performance one unless there was astronomical wear in there, if so this is bound to show up elsewhere. Whirring noise sounds like it could be the belt or, less likely cam shaft bearings.

cam belt maybe a tad tight, my piper cam makes a sorta whirring noise at hight revs.

was it a standard cam you had fitted?

As above. Cam belt too tight. You should be able to twist the belt through 90 degrees with your thumb and finger in the middle of its longest free length. :wink:
