coilovers

got new coilovers for my mk2 gti,having a bit of trouble with the rear ones.one of the rear shocks had came right through into the boot.think the suspension cup was rotten but not sure as im not very mechanical.could someone tell me if i'm right or wrong and what parts i need.

doesn't sound right! don't have pics of the set up but there should be a rubber mount that needs putting on the coilover before fitting.

yeah you need the rubber top mounts before they'll fit. if your old ones are good, swap them over but for how cheap they are i'd buy new. www.gsfcarparts.com

What will have gone is the top spring disc which holds the whole spring assembly together, some aftermarket coil overs have new ones in the kit. Otherwise part no.: 191 512 113.

Going back to your photo you seem to have them. Hopefully that's all it is and not body rot around the top mounts....that's a welding job.
