Computer remaps... Mac or PC
« on: 16 March 2008, 10:33 »
Hi guys,

There’s alot of talk about remaps... some are done at the tuners... some are done via a handset, I guess over the internet.
I’m a Mac user (’till the day I die), so do you guys know whether the software upgrades work on a Mac?

It’s very tempting to upgrade... I’ll wait ’till I’ve put on a few 1000 miles and then check out APR, Revo, Superchips etc. and pick all your brains.

Obviously I would tell the insurance company (daft not to when you’ve spent this much) ... I guess it would go up from group 18 to 19... anyone know how much their premium increased? Also can you recommend your insurance company... I’m with LV and they’re very competitive.

Quite impressed... had wheel slip in 3rd last night (was raining) at about 50mph... stiill running in. I can’t wait until I can give it the beans... this car is begging to be driven! Red Robin I think that pre-delivery thrash you did for me has unleashed the horses... thanks buddy.

cheers... Hotrod

....Hi Hotrod - Great to hear you are enjoying it so much!

I don't think that Macs are supported by many . I'm a Mac addict until I die too!!

Have a word with Jim at JKM Portsmouth - He's both a Bluefin and Revo highly approved agent and tuner with a rolling road. Gives top notch aftersales service too. I use him for anything my VW dealer isn't up to speed for. It's a family biz of genuine enthusiasts - I trust them 200%.

Jim - 0239 263 9933 and say Robin (red GTI) suggested you call.

Phone me at home if you want to discuss more

Red, do you reckon we'd get a discount by mentioning your name

I reckon Hotrod and I should have a blast down to Pompey and get our ed30's mapped and see what sort of discount we'd get???

....Any discount or not will be entirely down to Jim. I only recommend him because I highly rate him.

Only jesting, I am looking for them to do the work, didn't realise they did Bluefin too????

Bottom line, would probably be a good idea to pair up with someone re getting a discount.

Have had an email from them and started the ball rolling and can confirm what you've already said, very good indeed!

Thanks Robin,

Will wait a while before upgrading, I need to get to know the car and how far it can be pushed before upgrading.
Also, Telboy keep us updated on your remapping adventure!

Cheers gang... Hotrod

....That's exactly what I did, including a CarLimits day course discovering the limit on North Weald airfield - 11 mpg and much tyre wear!!
