VR6 opportunity
« on: 09 April 2004, 13:30 »
Hi,
Have seen a VR6 for sale, and have posted here to seek some advice.
Firstly, the vehicle is Q registered having been stolen and the engine removed, subsequently recovered and the DVLA issued a new number and therefore a new registration. However the car is a 1996 model having only covered 55,000 miles. It is black, no leather but air con and all other usual refinements. The guy selling it is only the 2nd owner and he has owned it for the past 6 years, and states has never had a problem with it.
have yet to HPi the vehicle, but if that comes back hunky dory (apart from what I already know) then ignoring the stigma of a Q reg, is this something worth going for?
He states that he had no service history when he got, but he has had it serviced whilst he has owned it. I am of the opinion that knowing the history of the vehicle, service history is not as important, as the up keep of the vehicle will be there for all to see in  its looks and how it runs(??!!!)
The price will be lower than a 'normal VR6' but am I losing out on a lot?
I am not looking to earn money on the car when I sell if on, cos who does anyway. I just want to have a kick ass, scare me senseless car.
Phew..now I'm done, your views would be appreciated.

Ross

It better be cheap with all the ifs and buts attatched to it!!! Who replaced the engine? was everything replaced properly? if no service history the mileage counts for squat and its worth squat too!!! Save your cash and get a proper Vr even a high miler with full history seen em on early J's for 1400 quid on trader!!!!

^totally agree.  Service history is probably the most important thing.  Engine replaced?, could be nothing but trouble.  Buying genuine will cost you less in the long run.

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.
