Steve, from what you have posted I think you would be happiest with the GTI

You wont have to press it for as long as you would in the Gti..

If your a fast driver then the difference really wont be all that much.. they both can go through the juice when your pushing on.

I drove a GT TDI, audi A3 TDI, BMW 120d before my GTI

as i was after powerfull diesel with good mpg but soon as i drove the GTI all that went out the window

The GTI is an all in one package, nice looks, spacey and powerfull more so than all those ive driven.. Well happy with mine

As for an r32 id love one but couldnt afford to run one.

in that viedo above did i really just see a gti beat an r32??

If you can get a R32 then definalty its the one to go for.  I love it more compared to my GTI.

The costs aint that much more either!!  Dont go thinking they cost the earth, no enough when compared to the GTI:

My expereince:

My GTI:

Insurance: 389 pa
Fuel: 30 pw
Tax: 240 pa

My R32

Insurance: 435
Fuel: 40 pw
Tax: 300 pa (at present)

only 600 quid a year different!,  11.50 a week,  thats like 2 packet of fags now a days!..

And yes its worth it!!
