mines kinda corroded and a perfect square of it broke off in my hands  :sad: its just above where  the cabin filter sits, so i'm pretty sure water will/is just going to sit in the filter.. im going to a breaker tommorow who've got 1 so it should be sorted pronto

Whit.. yeah they can as i ripped mine out in my temper and had to go to the stealers for new ones...

i snapped my scuttle and plastic welded it back together lol..

they are a PITA to get in, for some reason my ECU side one just foook me about every time I take it out    :angry:

and who ever designed those retaining clip things should be shot too!!!

yeah they're definitely horrible little things.....

are they VW only or do places like GSF sell them?

i guess they're only a few pence each....... :shocked:

I got a used scuttle from breakers nought wrong with it better than going to dealer i think. And the clips are a load of crap whoever designed them should be shot, i just nicked a few out scrappy  :wink:

just got one from main dealer, havent got part number (invoice at work) cost me £57 including vat with all the fixxings

Im missing one of the clips on mine as well, how much were they from main stealer ?

they're all the same across the mk3 range. How the hell do you break a scuttle panel though lol


the older golfs scuttle panels are made of real flimsy crap, mine was full of cracks when i bought the car, due to a replaced windscreen which also wasnt fitted correctly!!, iv just had a new windscreen fitted and now just gotta fit the new scuttle panel...2 minute job

just ordered mine from the stealer on sat... had my windscreen replaced last week and thought that maybe the scuttle panel or the rubbery broken bit on it was a kind of bonded to the windscreen thing that my auto windscreen chap would have replaced when my stone chip turned into a crack  :rolleyes:

alas no  :sad:

still... new parts later this week!!  :laugh:

will post part numbers and prices if no one else does
